Follow-For-Follows Are Dumb

Do They Really Work?

If you’re looking for a quick answer then, yes, they work.

What people forget to consider is the message they send about your writing or your profile.

I’ve gotten a few followers-for-follow offers and I accept them, I tend to always accept them because on the surface they seem nice. We mutually agree we want more followers so we follow each other. Some people will even throw in a Clap or like to one of your stories!

Sounds like a sweet deal right?

Wrong.

What are you thinking?

I mean if the goal is to get to 100 followers as quickly as possible then go right ahead but whatever happened to obtaining followers because people genuinely enjoy your content.

I feel that the quality of content online has decreased significantly. I can’t really explain why, but it has. My theory is that it’s decreased because people want short and snappy articles that get to the point and that’s fine, to each their own.

The problem starts when you want people to engage with your writing. A person that followed you because you followed them may not even care about what you’ve posted. They are more likely to unfollow you if you happen to post something you disagree with.
